Which Coach is Highest Paid State Employee – Open Item

Today's open item includes an interesting infographic on which person is the highest paid state employee in each of the 50 statesToday’s open item comes to us compliments of St. Senator Jim Banks’ Twitter feed. He linked to an infographic put together by Deadspin which shows state by state which sport’s coach is the highest paid state employee. Over 80% of the states in the country have a coach as their highest paid employee!

On the heels of that news, The Wall Street Journal reports we will see 40,000 computer science graduates earn their diploma while the U.S. economy is projected to create 120,000 jobs in this field. There is a frightening skills gap – parents, don’t let your kids grow up to earn liberal arts degrees!

On a sad note as Indiana pays its final respects to former Gov. Otis “Doc” Bowen, WNDU reports another notable Michiana resident passed away. Joe Doyle, friend of former Irish coach Ara Parseghian was a nationally recognized expert on all things Notre Dame football.
