Open Item – Hamilton County School Referendum Today
Polls are open in Hamilton County as voters decide whether or not to finance school expansions. WTHR 13 covers the case for expanding the schools. Both Hamilton Southeastern and Noblesville Schools have measures on the ballot. Are you from Hamilton County? Share your thoughts on the referendums in the comments section below!
We also have a selection of stories that you might be interested in reading. IF you haven’t heard already (since it seems practically everyone is weighing in on the story already this morning), Fox News has a report that Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) secretly had lap-band surgery to reduce his weight about three months ago. Many are giving him a hard time for keeping this a secret given his proclivity for being fairly blunt and upfront with people.
On the Hoosier front, a young woman from Marion committed suicide at school yesterday. You can get details from the Indianapolis Star’s article about her tragic death. This story is so sad because it is clear from watching coverage last night and reading some of the follow-up stories this morning that she had a bright future ahead of her. Please keep her family and her classmates in your prayers!
Finally, we have two more memorials for former Gov. Otis “Doc” Bowen. One, from the Star’s editorial board sharing their their thoughts on Gov. Bowen’s legacy. Another with thoughts from former Gov. and current President of Purdue University Mitch Daniels about Gov. Bowen’s passing during an interview with WIBC.
If you missed it, be sure to check out yesterday’s blog post about President Obama’s energy policy. As always, we encourage you to share your thoughts on these or any other items that strike your fancy in the comments section below. We may post items there as well that we don’t have time or aren’t substantive enough to write a full blog post about, so check back often!
