Mourdock Receives Right to Life Endorsement
Every election cycle there are endorsements. There is always much banter about how much weight an endorsement carries. Today, Richard Mourdock received a big endorsement in his race against Dick Lugar for the Indiana Senate seat. In a media statement that was released this morning, it was announced that the Indiana Right to Life Political Action Committee has endorsed Richard Mourdock. Mike Fichter, Chairman of the Indiana Right to Life Political Action Committee, gave several reasons as to why they have chosen to endorse Richard Mourdock. The main reason being Lugar’s support of President Obama’s Supreme Court nominees in which the Right to Life PAC takes exception. The statement that was issued calls Justices’ Kagan and Sotomayor activist justices, and that the Right to Life PAC wants a Senator that will firmly oppose any Supreme Court nominee who does not hold to a conservative judicial philosophy that is rooted in the United States Constitution.
This endorsement is huge for Richard Mourdock. Many in the pro-life movement have concerns with Senator Lugar. Today’s endorsement will only confirm to them that it is time for a change. This endorsement will rally the base for Mourdock. The question is, can Mourdock capitalize on this endorsement and turn it into votes on May 8th?
