The big news today is President Obama choosing Sonia Sotamayor as his choice to replace David Souter on the Supreme Court and the California State Supreme Court upholding Prop 8, banning gay marriage, but upholding the roughly 18,000 gay and lesbian marriages that took place.

But one of the big legislative issues has been President Obama’s cap and trade plan…a plan that Congressman Pence called “and Economic Declaration of War on the Midwest” and Congressman Burton referred to as “a genuine Trojan horse filled with taxes, and an attack on American consumers and our various industries.”

Tomorrow they will be in Indianapolis with fellow congressman from other Midwest states to hold an energy summit and Hoosier Access will be there to broadcast it live (provided the library wi-fi doesn’t boot the webcast) complete with live chat. Governor Daniels will be one of four witnesses tomorrow.  The summit will start at 10:00am.

Rep. Burton, Congressional Leaders to Host Energy Summit in Indianapolis to Discuss Solutions to America’s Energy Challenges U.S. House Republican Leadership to Visit Indianapolis Next Week as Part of National Energy Tour

Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN) and members of the American Energy Solutions Group (AESG) are hosting an Energy Summit in Indianapolis, IN, next week with leading energy experts to discuss solutions to America’s energy challenges. The Summit will also focus on the serious consequences of the current cap-and-trade proposal that Congressional Democrats are pushing through the U.S. House.

The AESG will be hosting several summits across the country next week in order to develop policy initiatives to lower energy prices for American families and small businesses, and create energy independence for the American people.

The Indianapolis Energy Summit will take place Wednesday, May 27th at 10:00 a.m. in Indianapolis, IN, at the Central Library of Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library. A press conference will follow the summit at approximately 12:00 pm.
